People's Feedback:
" Eddy, now I know why Rumba Club calls you "El Maestro De Maestro". You are very knowledgeable about our culture and the styles. Me being Colombian, I thought I knew how to dance until you broke it down for me why we dance this way vs. the way people dance in the street "estilo revolu". When it comes to Salsa in Houston, you are the person to go to. Muchisima Gracias. "

" I have been in the Salsa Scene for quite a few years and have tried many Salsa Instructors. I have to admit that, you are without a doubt the best, most competent and most professional Salsa Instructor I have ever dealt with. If you ever need a reference or testimonial please do not hesitate to contact me. Keep up the great work! "

" Eddy, Just wanted to tell you what a pleasure it is to take your classes... The quality and the cost of for your classes it's a steal, but the most important thing is the quality of the service that you give every week has determined the outcome of your students who really wants to learn this dance. Eddy you got a great way of teaching at a fair price and a SUPERB SERVICE! I don't understand why other people would take classes with anyone else. Your work ethics -- offering full support by creating Student Salsa Social, making sure to inform your students about things on a weekly basis, you make an effort to stay in touch, ask for how else can you help -- are admirable and rare commodities these days. Keep on the Good Work. "

" Wow, Eddy... your classes have been perfect! You continue to amaze me with your expertise. Truthfully, you have now taken the meaning of "excellent dance instructor" to a whole new level! Who would have believed I would be dancing Salsa at this Level. I have been to SSQQ, Gloria's, Sonia's, Melody and pay the same or more to learn Salsa and nothing. Starting from scratch with you so, I can overcome my shortcomings as a lead it's awe-inspiring. Well, seeing is believing! ... no one else comes close to what you do! Thank you so much. "

" Hello Eddy, Thanks for the great instruction on dancing Salsa in Level 1. I'm sure this has to help all your other students as it has helped me to understand the importance of knowing the basics fundamentals of Salsa Dancing. You are impressive and I will see you at Level 2. "

"...Until last week I have never taken salsa classes, I've only learned to dance from dancing with one of my good friends and a few years of going to the clubs. I LOVE YOUR CLASS! The speed of the class is just right and your instuctions are excellent. I am taking the intermediate class and its only my second week, but I will definately take more classes in the future. Thanks for the great lessons!"

"...Eddy, I took one of your classes recently and thought you were a GREAT teacher. Funny, energetic and explained the steps very well, especially when there were a couple I was having difficulty with...
...I will certainly be taking another one of your classes in the near future."

"...Hello Eddy, I love your sense of humor as you teach the dance classes! I like how you address certain issues, like remembering to keep count (instead of relying on the beat/rhythm of a song), what happens if you don't step properly etc. etc. I also admire the fact that you continually ask, "Questions?", "Concerns?" Above all, for being a bad ass Salsero, you never make anyone feel beneath you (or come off as such). Keep shining!...
Thanks for your time."

"...Thanks so much for asking, I wanted to let you know...
I think giving each individual some feedback on things they could improve on in each class would be helpful. One thing I really like about your classes vs SSQQ (which I had taken the same salsa Intermediate at 2 years ago) is the class size - smaller and possibly more attention from the instructor...
I really enjoyed your humor and personality as an instructor. I also really liked that you promote going dancing at clubs after class. I met a LOT more people in your classes than I ever did at SSQQ. And practicing those moves with guys from the class is probably the only way I'll ever use them, since I'm the girl and can't lead the guys I dance with normally.
Your web-site is very helpful and full of info. I've been trying to educate myself on artists and want to learn more Spanish so I can understand the lyrics in the music better..."

"... I am one of your students that take Intermediate class on Sunday. I like the way you rotate us girls, so that we can see how different guys lead. You're very interactive and you just make learning Salsa so much fun. There is never a dull moment in class. I personally look forward to my Sunday's so I can see what new move SALSAEDDY will teach us."

"...I think that you are a great instructor,{se puede medir la calidad del instructor por los alumnos que tiene. Estudiantes como Erica y Luis y muchos otros dan a demostrar que eres muy buen maestro. He habaldo con alguno de tus estudiantes y dicen que tienes mucha seriedad y profesionalismo al enseñar. Si recomendaria a personas. Les diria si quieres mejorar tu calidad de baile con Eddy Deynes lo puedes hacer)..."
Translation: "...you can measure the quality of an instructor through their students. Students like Erica and Luis and many others demostrates that you are a good instructor. I've talked to some of your students and they tell me that you are very serious and professional when it comes to teaching. Yes, I will recommend people. I will tell them if they want to improve in their dancing, with Eddy Deynes you can."

"...I enjoyed the constant movement along with the verbal instruction; you teach as you move, and we learn as we move. I don't know what else you could do to improve your class, it's the best to me. Eddy is very knowledgeble, experienced, and patient. Oh yeah and did I mention talented?..."

"...Hi Eddy, I would like to share the wonderful experience I encouter while attending your salsa class 1. Eventhough I already know how do dance I knew that I needed some cleaning up with my feet and most especially with my turns. Because I grew up dancing cumbias I always landed on the right side instead of the back!!! Even though many people tried to teach me how I just couldn't get it. I can remember how thrill I was when I finally landed with my foot on the back after one time of you instructing how to turn. Oh yeah baby it was on after that. I always tell people that you have the skill and talent to see the level of the dancing skill people have and smooth their way into dancing salsa. You are truly a great instructor. I look forward to seeing you in the salsa class 2 this Tuesday. Thank you Eddy..."

"...Eddy, you make the classes challenging but enjoyable. And as always, I always felt you had a good way with folks. I have recommended people to you and it has always been the for the same reason, "If you want to learn from someone who is smooth and can make you look smooth, then learn from the best..."

"...Hello Eddy, I cannot validate considering to be one of your current students but a few years back I took a crash course taught by yourself, Rey, Wilmer, and Salomon at a local high school gym...I still remember that day, your patience and professionalism were obvious and I think its because you love what you do. Even though I have not taken any more "formal" lessons, I still tell people whom show interest in the dance to look you up on the web. I think you are the best all around instructor in Houston..."

"...Hello, Eddy! I really enjoy your classes and workshops. I like the fact that you 'test' people before letting them move up to another level. This helps ensure everyone is on a similar playing field. I also like the fast-pace of your classes. You expect a lot and it's a challenge! I have recommended your classes to several of my friends. I think you're a great teacher and very professional. You move quickly (I tell them they won't get bored in your classes) and keep us on our toes!..."

"...Eddy teaches systematically. Whether he is teaching a basic step or a combination, he breaks it down step-by-step, and has the students repeat it while he checks their footwork, timing and the men's lead. He is dedicated to his students' success. And although Eddy's emphasis is on good dancing rather than socializing, I have met interesting people and great dance partners in his classes!..."

" Eddy, I loooove your classes . You are a very dedicated teacher who always takes the time to create new routines, making the class fresh and interesting. Also, I appreciate how you always make sure we are all understanding the steps or you stop and take the extra time to help us. You also treat all your students equal and carry yourself professionally in the classroom. Thanks for your hard work "

" Eddy: I like your classes because you focus on timing, and being able to lead, for the girl being able to follow. That is the foundation, and you teach that well "

" I think the main thing that people like about your class is that you're teaching it. You are salsa and everything about you says that. I remember that what made me take your class was how willing you were to show me - a super beginner - the ropes and give feedback on a public dance floor. You forced me to step out of my 'fear" box, focus on dance and flow. That attitude was still evident in class as you ensured that everyone did not move forward until everyone was on the same page. "

" Eddy, I love your classes. I learn a lot out them each time I take them (even repeating the same levels). I have taken group lessons before and found that they are too slow or the level is too basic for me. I think your classes are strong on emphasizing the importance of understanding basic footwork and count. It gets real dangerous social dancing with a guy who knows a lot of complex combinations but his timing is off and he is not paying attention to the people surrounding us. So, I appreciate the importance of timing and correct footwork.
You call it like you see it (which is the kind of person I am) and I like that. I listen to the feedback you provide and I try to implement whatever suggestions you make. You are good at breaking down the combinations from the male and the female perspectives. You spend extra time with people who need extra help. Your classes are fun and informative. You are well versed on a variety of styles "

" Well...huh, huh....
I would like for my dearest instructor to know that since I began to take your classes, my life has changed forever!! Changed in a positive way of course. I am not the same person that came into your intermediate class on a Tuesday night in April 2006. I am now a full-blown salsa addict! I am what others would classify a salsa junkie! I need to have it or else I get cranky.
I have bought most of the 70's salsa catalog, bought historical books on the pioneers of salsa, and constantly look for opportunities to learn more about this wonderful sub-culture. All of this happened as a result of taking your salsa classes. I completely fell in love with this music and dance.
To tell you the truth, I am most grateful to you Eddy for being such a wonderful instructor. You have being very patient with me every single month that I enroll in your classes. You may not know this, but you have projected an enormous influence on me, that I hope some day I am able to make you proud. I know I am a working progress, but I will not give up. With your continued help, I know that I will achieve my dreams.
Another thing that you may not know is that I have used your classes as a therapeutic session. Your classes helped reduce my stress level, since I am always working on some kind of school project (life as a college student). Another benefit I get is that, when I joined your classes, I had recently quit smoking cigarettes, so it has helped me overcome the urge to smoke. The fact that you give us a workout from hell, I don't have to worry about meeting the minimum required exercise to stay healthy. An finally, the most beneficial aspect about your classes have been an emotional and psychological one. As you may know, I recently went through a divorce, so for me, to come in every week and dance, was the best medicine one could ask for. So, Eddy, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much!!
You make your classes so much fun! I tell you that, some of the things you say and do, crack me and the class up! You say crazy stuff! As-a-matter-of-fact, some of the funny stuff you say throws me of timing. Everyone seem loves your classes!
From the moment I stepped into your class, you made me feel very comfortable. I know I had a lot of insecurities about dancing beforehand, but your continued support in class and out in the clubs, my confidence level has dramatically increased. I am not were I want to be, but I also know this is a life-long learning objective.
Perhaps one of the coolest thing that you offer is the fact that you do not teach the same thing twice. I have been with you for 6 months and learn new things every time. Another aspect that I love was the fact that you drill onto your students the importance of dancing on timing. Ever since I learned that, dancing on timing has made me feel the music in my blood!
There are so many good thing I could continue to say, but I gotta get to bed! I have school in the morning. "
